News: LEV revised guidance & scary figures
30/06/2008 Local Exhaust Ventilation is used in many businesses throughout the UK as an integral part of their risk control, others view LEV as a series of pipes that move air from point A to point B. Whatever the opinion, the HSE is aiming to improve exposure controls for all by launching their revised guidance on LEV design & testing. The new guidance was implemented in May 2008. We recently sent 4 delegates to attend Act now-LEV Guidance Open Technical Seminar at the Institute of Food Research in Norwich. As members of the BOHS (British Occupational Hygiene Society) we were invited along by them and were only to willing to attend. The seminar had speakers from industry, insurance sector and the HSE and proved very worthwhile to all. Some of the statistics provided to us were startling and certainly need to be improved by better understanding and implementing of LEV design and testing.
These type of figures certainly make you sit up and think and action is rightly required to reduce them. HSE are taking a much stronger stance and action will be taken against offenders. If you are not doing anything about your LEV system then please act now. Contact our Tony Bosworth on 0116 2448855 |
